It’s Official – We’re Married!

Happy Friday!  After taking a hiatus from working on the blog, I’m back with some happy news to share…I got married!JC and I tied the knot on July 2nd at the Tidewater Inn in Easton, Maryland.  We are now officially husband and wife, which feels equal parts weird and wonderful to say.  Our wedding day was just what we wanted – a fun, sentimental celebration with our closest family and friends.  I’ll be sharing the details along with our “official” wedding photos and video as soon as they are finalized.  (I’m waiting patiently, promise).   I’ll also be posting a review of our honeymoon stay at the all-inclusive Zoetry Agua Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  SPOILER ALERT: it was amazing. Now that we’re home, I’m focused on settling back into my daily routine, cleaning up the house in the aftermath of the…

Review: Trail of Broken Wings by Sejal Badani

Title: Trail of Broken WingsAuthor: Sejal BadaniGenres: Contemporary Fiction, Women’s FictionPublisher: Lake Union Publishing (May 1, 2015)Format: Paperback (370 pages)ISBN: 978-1477822081My Rating: 3.5/5 Trail of Broken Wings by Sejal Badani deals with heavy themes of domestic abuse and the emotional and physical destruction left in its wake.  With that in mind, I would not say that I enjoyed this book, but rather that I considered it a meaningful, worthwhile read – moving, and at times, heartbreaking. At its core, Broken Wings is a character study, providing dark and vivid insights into the burdened lives of its central characters, their Indian culture, and their struggle to build and maintain relationships in America, beneath shadows of secrets and painful histories. The story unfolds in layers, with each chapter narrated from the point of view (sometimes first person, sometimes not) of three sisters, Sonya…
