Our Wedding Video: The Book of Love
Happy Friday! Today, I am incredibly excited to share our wedding highlight video created by the talented Elias Muhammad at Advocate Media. We hadn’t discussed hiring a videographer in the months leading up to our big day. By happy coincidence, JC met Elias and had the foresight (albeit somewhat delayed!) to book him only a few days before our wedding. I’m so happy he did! The day was such a whirlwind, and it is a gift to have the ability to relive the big moments and take in the details.
The song featured in the video, Peter Gabriel’s The Book of Love, holds sentimental value for us, and I can’t think of a better song to capture the feeling of our relationship and wedding day. Here is one of my favorite verses, though reading it without the gorgeous melody loses a little in translation:
The book of love is long and boring,
And written very long ago.
It’s full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes,
And things we’re all too young to know.
What you can’t see in the video is that JC arranged for our super-talented friends, Gabbie and Jon, to play this song as a violin/acoustic guitar duet as I walked down the aisle. They managed to keep it a surprise right up to the moment I stepped into the courtyard. There’s a point in the video where it looks like I’m looking into the camera. I’m actually looking at them trying not to tear up and lose all of my composure. (Inside I was screaming OMG YOU DIDN’T I LOVE YOU AND OH ITS SO PRETTY NO UGLY CRYING THO AHH). Such a special moment.
My heart swelled with love that day – after so many days of happiness together and years of friendship before that – and this song is the perfect embodiment of that feeling.
